Cranio-Sacral Therapy
I trained in Visionary Cranio Sacral Therapy work with the Milne Institute in Europe and USA with Hugh Milne. Hugh’s mission statement “To help create an open heart, a clear head and a free body” gives a sense of the gentle yet deep and quiet approach that is at the heart of Visionary Cranio-Sacral work.
What is Cranio-Sacral Therapy?
CST is a very gentle hands-on and non-invasive treatment. It can help release tension in your body’s connective tissues which often hold deep patterns of dis–ease, both physical and psychological.
People often think that CST refers only to the head or sacrum but it works on the whole body. Depending on what you want help with, sometimes you may feel the gentle touch of CST on your neck, shoulders, legs or even your feet!
How Does This Therapy Work?
Cranio-Sacral Therapy uses a very light touch; hands are similar to ears that ‘listen’ to what your body needs. People often report a sense of being heard and seen at the deepest level after a Cranio-Sacral treatment.
Depending on what we are working on, I often combine Cranio-Sacral treatment with FSM (Frequency Specific Microcurrent) as they work extremely well together.
Who is This Treatment For?
Because CST is so gentle and non-invasive, it is suitable for everyone from newly-born babies to the elderly. Women often come during pregnancy. Letting go of tension and fear held in the body can help both mother and baby in the birth process.
Accidents and injuries often cause significant tension throughout the body. An injured knee may seem localized, but its effects extend further. Fascia, the connective tissue running from head to toe, links every part of your body, ensuring interconnection. When fascia misaligns in one area, it creates tension and imbalance elsewhere, affecting the entire system.
A knee injury can lead to problems in the hip, ankle, or even the shoulder, highlighting the body’s interconnected nature. Understanding this interconnection helps address root causes and restore balance.
How many treatments might I need?
Everyone responds differently to CST. It varies from person to person and condition to condition. So even if your best friend has identical symptoms, you might need one treatment a week for several weeks, whereas she needs 3 treatments a week!
SUMMARY
The paradox of Cranio-Sacral Therapy is that the very light, almost non-existent touch, can create deep profound changes.
