Chronic pain and toxicity often go hand-in-hand. You may have received excellent treatment from osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and other bodyworkers who treat pain, yet nothing has changed. I discovered the link between chronic pain and toxicity through my own experience—an ankle injury that resisted all treatment.
We live in an increasingly toxic world. In 1962, Rachel Carson published Silent Spring, warning about environmental dangers. Since then, the chemical industry has developed hundreds of chemicals that are nearly impossible to avoid. When your body fails to eliminate toxins through its usual detoxification routes, it stores them in adipose tissue. These toxins can enter your bloodstream, triggering significant health problems. If you struggle to lose weight, your body may resist releasing stored toxins. Toxicity drives inflammation, now recognized as the leading cause of inflammatory degenerative diseases.
Symptoms
An inability to detoxify can manifest in a wide range of symptoms that include:
- Sensitivity to the smell of paint, chemicals, petrol, glue, perfumes
- Musculo-Skeletal pain and inflammation
- Chronic headaches and skin sensitivity
- Cognitive dysfunction including memory loss
- Foul smelling stools
- Caffeine and alcohol intolerance
- Cognitive dysfunction including memory loss
- Psoriasis, Acne
- Chronic pain that has resisted treatment
- Chronic Fatigue
Causes
- Exposure to toxic chemicals – paint, petrol, perfumes, glue
- Live or work near industrial sites, heavily polluted road
- Abundant use of pharmaceutical medications
- Amalgam Fillings, Root Canals, TMJ and occlusion problems
- Insect sprays in aeroplanes, hotels, conference rooms
- Tattoo Ink
- Exposure to household cleaning materials, air fresheners, room sprays
- Abundance of local or general anaesthetics
- Use of Recreational Drugs
- Outgassing from new furniture, including soft furnishings, wooden floors, roof insulation
It’s A Toxic World!!
Yes, it is!
After the Second World War, synthetic chemicals were modified and adapted for use as pesticides, herbicides etc.
Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring was the first book to highlight the dangers of pesticides and chemicals to humans and the environment. The chemical industry tried many times to ban the book. However, her perseverance ensured its publication, leading to the ban of many harmful pesticides, including DDT, in the USA and other countries worldwide.
